L'oreal Colour Riche 353 Blueberry Crystal - Review

Ages ago, my mum bought herself the L'oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Blueberry Crystal, never used it and ended up giving it to me. I was thrilled, as this was probably my 2nd lipstick I had ever owned - and I didn't have to pay a penny! 

The shade Blueberry Crystal is a rather unusual nude shade with a lot of glitter within it's formula. I'm not really a fan of glittery lipsticks and this is definitely far too overpowering in terms of the glitter. The shade is also not one to go for if you have tanned/olive skin, I do and it makes me look extremely washed out & ill. Although, on paler toned skin I have seen it looks a lot more complimentary, so I'm sure plenty of you would love this lipstick much more than I do! 

On the plus side, the texture of this lipstick is super creamy and is extremely smooth to apply to the lips, and the packaging is also very sophisticated!

This lipstick retails at £8.19 and you can buy it here. Fairly pricey for a drugstore lipstick but I wouldn't mind trying it in a different shade, as the texture and application is impressive!

RIMMEL APOCALIPS IN 304 ECLIPSE: REVIEW

Around Halloween time, I ventured out to my local Superdrug to pick up a few darker make-up items to complete my halloween look! I'd heard so many great things about the Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquer's and had been dying to try one out for myself. So, straight away I was drawn to these, where I spotted the shade 304 'Eclipse', and immediately picked it up and decided this was the perfect shade for halloween, yet also a lovely autumn colour! 

Rimmel have done really well in creating a very edgy and classy packaging to this product, which I think has a lovely effect to the whole 'Apocalips' theme and certainly makes it look almost exciting!

Now, the consistency of this product is just lovely! As most of you will be aware, a lip lacquer has a consistency in between a lip gloss and a lipstick, and this particular lip lacquer formula is super creamy and highly pigmented. The applicator is okay, but I find that sometimes the little well in the centre gets a little too much product collected in it, which can be a problem when it comes to the darker shades as you need a little less product and more precision and accuracy - so you have to be careful when applying.

The product isn't drying at all and moisturises my lips like a lip gloss would, and it isn't too sticky either! Despite all of the good things about this product, I was let down a little by the staying power. It will last an hour or so but will dry leaving a darker line around the outline of my lips. Now this is nothing a little top up won't fix, but when you just don't have the time, it can be slightly frustrating!

These pictures aren't quite capturing the intensity of the shade too well, but it is a lovely deep cherry shade and once applied leaves a shiny finish - much like a lip gloss!

Overall, I would say this product and shade is pretty damn great. For £6.49, I think it is brilliant value for what you are getting! The only downside for me would be the staying power, but this is the same for a lot of highstreet lip products. I'll most likely be picking up a few more in the near future!

Collection Work The Colour Eyeshadow Pencil Review

I'm sure you have all heard a lot about the Collection Work The Colour eyeshadow pencils, and if you haven't - where have you been hiding?! After reading a couple of reviews on this product, I decided I would try it out for myself and picked one up. I chose to get the shade 'Gunmetal Glitz', purely because I was going out that night and wanted to create a nice smokey eye. After hearing that these are creamy, extremely pigmented, long-lasting and easily blendable, I was expecting a lot from this product... but, I was disappointed! 

At only £3.19, this product is an absolute bargain and I would say it is definitely worth the money, despite my displeasure! After swatching it (see below) I was pleasantly surprised, it does give a deeply pigmented and creamy consistency, and it seemed to be incredibly blendable. But, when applying this product to my eyelids, it all seemed to go on a downward spiral. 

Now, I'm not sure whether I just have annoying eyelids or maybe I'm even applying it wrong, but I found I had to push far too hard on my eyelid to get enough product on to even be able to blend it. My poor little (or big) eyeball just can't handle too much pressure, so I found it took me AGES to get enough product to work with. Then, when it came to blending, I found that it just didn't want to budge! It just stayed pretty much the same as how I drew it on - which isn't a good look. After some hard work and about 15 minutes later, I managed to get a decent looking smokey eye... but I was not impressed in the slightest. My advice is, if you're going to use this product, use it as a base for your eyeshadow. I have found that it works well that way, but just this product on it's own, especially for the outer eyelid and crease, just doesn't work for me at all!

I don't think I have read one bad review on this product, so I'm slightly nervous about posting this. Has anyone else found this product to not be all it's made out to be?!

SLEEK FACE CONTOUR KIT AND BLUSHER REVIEW

Hello everyone! Just over a week ago, me and my boyfriend went to Milton Keynes to do a little bit of shopping! When I saw that the superdrug there sold Sleek products, I knew I had to buy a few bits as I've heard so much about them within the beauty sphere. I knew their blushers are super raved about - seemingly by everyone - so I picked up the shade 'Flushed' for only £4.49! 

The first thing that stood out to me with this blush was how pigmented the colour looks! The shade is a deep berry shade with a little bit of shimmer (which doesn't show once applied), and it's beautiful. Others may shy away from how deeply pigmented it looks but you shouldn't - it gives such a lovely, natural, rosy-cheeked look. The best thing is, as it is so pigmented you only need a little bit on your brush (don't be too heavy handed, especially with lighter skin tones), so you know it's going to last you a while! 

It also has such a silky, smooth formation and compared to my Natural Collection Blusher it's so soft to touch. I also found that it's super easy to blend, so you're not going to look like a clown with little red circles on your cheeks!! 

I have used this blush every day for the past week and I am so utterly in love with it, it lasts all day despite the fact that I don't use a primer. It also has no scent to it so you won't be getting a whiff of a strange smell throughout your day. It's just wonderful!

Finally, for £4.49, who can go wrong?! With such chic packaging it looks like it would be much more expensive than this.

I also bought the much raved about Sleek Face Contour Kit in the shade 'Medium' for £6.49 as my skin is fairly tanned/olive toned. The Face Contour Kit consists of a bronzer and a highlighter, with a nice sized mirror in the (very SLEEK) packaging, which is brilliant for travelling!

The product comes with two sides, a larger side with the bronzing/sculpting powder, whilst the smaller side is a lovely highlighting powder. The only problem I found with the highlighter is that it doesn't seem to show up very much on my skin tone, but it's still lovely to use as it does add a little more brightness to my face.

The texture is certainly great and easy to work with. It is easily blend-able and as it isn't too powdery, it is easy to get the right amount on the brush without getting too much on the brush and turning yourself into an oompa loompa...

It is not really a bronzer you would use all over your face for a bronzing effect, it is definitely more suited as a contour. The colour of the contour isn't orange at all either, and suits my tanned/olive skin perfectly. You do have to make sure that you don't pile on too much though, a streak of brown across your face is not a good look... 

Here I swatched the blush and the contour quite heavily to really show just how pigmented they are! My camera just wouldn't pick up the colour of the highlighter so I gave up with that. As you can see, the blush can come out very heavy so you've got to be careful with it.

MINI BOOTS HAUL: MAYBELLINE 3 FOR 2

Hello everyone!

I thought I'd just do a little post about a few makeup items I bought in Boots recently as I had a little bit of money to spend. About a week ago I went to have a look in my local Boots store hoping to pick up a few more make up bits and I noticed Maybelline products were on a 3 for 2 offer and I just couldn't miss the opportunity! I managed to pick up all of these items for about £8 altogether - bargain! I'd get yourself down to a Boots store pronto before you miss out!!

I'd heard many other beauty guru's raving abut the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadow so my first choice was to follow the crowd and pick one up in the shade 'On and On Bronze'. It is supposedly a dupe for MAC's Paint Pot which I don't own, so I'm not sure how true of a dupe this is. My previous experiences with cream eyeshadows hadn't been too great, they would always crease like anything and the colour never lasted a whole day. But this cream eyeshadow is a complete dream! It goes on smoothly just by using your finger, is very pigmented and doesn't crease in the slightest. I was extremely impressed with it too, as it's claim of being '24HR' is a rather big claim to make, but it does actually stay on for the whole day!

This swatch doesn't really compliment quite how pigmented it is, but the shade 'On and On Bronze' is a gorgeous shimmery bronze colour and that is exactly why it caught my eye. It retails at £4.99 which isn't bad at all as a little goes a long way! I have also found it is great to wear if time isn't on your side as it doesn't take a lot to make it look good! I will 110% be picking a couple more of these up, the shades 'Eternal Pink' and 'Permanent Taupe' really catch my eye.

Finally I decided to pick up two of the Maybelline Color Show nail varnishes. I already have a few of these and they have to be some of my favourite nail varnishes I own. With just one coat you get a bold, solid colour and they don't seem to chip anywhere near as quickly as other nail varnishes I own! I got these in the shade 'Orange Attack' which is a lovely bright, deep orange/red colour, and 'Brick Shimmer' which is a lovely rose gold/bronze colour. Individually these would be £2.99 each so they're certainly worth a go :)

Rimmel Gel Liner - Review!

I know that the Rimmel Gel Liner isn't a particularly new product on the market, but I'm sure there are some of you eager to try out your first gel liner but you're undecided! Decision made for you - gel liner is great!

Previously, I had owned and used the Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner. It was a lovely liquid liner and easy to apply as the brush was nice and firm and not flimsy at all. Although - and I've heard other beauty guru's say this - it used to make my eyelid sting a little bit if a little too much was applied! So I decided to try out MY first gel liner.

First impressions of the Rimmel Gel Liner were brilliant, retailing at £6.49 it's a fairly good price for the long-lasting product you're getting (I still have plenty left despite using it for 4-5 months!). It gives a slightly more subtle look than a liquid liner, but you can layer it up to make it as dramatic as you want! I found it a lot easier to apply, and a lot easier to correct if I made a mistake. (Which ALWAYS happens when doing eye liner)!! I've read people saying in other reviews that it doesn't stay on all day, but I haven't experienced this with it... mine seems to stay on all day and doesn't smudge at all. It can fade a tiny bit throughout the day, but not so much that it bothers me!

The only downside to it seems to be that sometimes it can apply a little see-through so usually you have to apply a couple of layers to make it slightly more bold.

I hope this review helped some of you in your decisions! I'm yet to try different gel liners but I've also heard the maybelline gel liners are lovely! Love ya xxx

Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Tint - Review

Hey guys!

So I know this is a pretty old product, so I'm very late in writing about it but I was sitting wondering what to blog about today and I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to share my views on this product with you.

I have the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint in the shade 'Carry on Cherry' and at first, I loved this product to bits - so much that I used to wear it every day! It looks like a little pen so is easy to carry around. On one end is the 'pen' side, with the actual lip tint product, and the other end is a moisturising lip balm, which sounds like a good combo and as stated, it sounds 'moisturising'.
So, after using this for a few days I was in love with it... it gives a very deep, bold colour deep pink/cherry pigment with a lovely matte finish (although the lip balm can make it a little shinier). But, after using it for a while I noticed that my lips began to dry out a lot and become very red, sore and cracked. Maybe the lip balm isn't so moisturising after all... or maybe I was just silly using it every day, haha - oops!
But despite this, I still continued using it, just less often and successfully made the product run out. I won't be purchasing this product again, though - purely due to the fact of how drying it was on my poor little lips! But for all of you out there who want to try it, I say go for it, as it is a good price and does give a lovely look... but just make sure you really moisturise your lips before and after use (I recommend Burt's bee's lip balms!) and maybe don't use it quite as excessively as me... ha!
